For the parent of a child suffering with ADD or ADHD, they know how the child struggles with their school performance and as a result develops self esteem issues. Attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are conditions that are very closely related. According to the Mayo Clinic, they are characterized by a combination of problems including hyperactivity, impulsivity, and problems paying attention.
Treating these conditions with medication is oftentimes successful. However, more and more parents are encountering success by not using drugs to treat the condition. Create a schedule of their eating and sleeping habits – this includes their bedtime, when they eat their meals and when they take their naps. Additionally, create a calendar that lists special activities they participate in.
Work on improving their diet – your child should focus on high protein diets that include beans, eggs, meats, nuts, and seeds all of which are considered to be high in protein.
